Ralph was born and raised in Glen Allen, Virginia and a graduate of Randolph Macon College. He is a husband and father of two girls. Growing up, he played a variety of sports throughout his life and has always been extremely competitive. Sports and competitive hobbies include, Baseball, Softball, Foosball, Golf, Gymnastics, Darts, Bowling and CrossFit. (Maybe anything else you challenge him in) Ralph was introduced to CrossFit in 2015, there he found the balance between the inner competition and the external push from other community members. While his fitness level increased he discovered a new passion of encouraging others, keeping them motivated throughout the workouts.
In 2016, he decided he wanted to be able to help other people reach their full potential and tested for his CrossFit Level 1 Trainer Certificate. In early 2017, he started planning his vision of being a part-owner of a CrossFit Affiliate in Ashland, Virginia and in July of 2017, opened CrossFit COTU with his partners. Ralph regularly participates in local CrossFit competitions such as Superfit Team, Festivus Team and Festivus Individual. Most recently, Ralph and his partner won the Men’s Intermediate division of the Festivus Team competition beating out 24 other teams. Ralph also competes yearly in the CrossFit Open and ranked as the 1st place male in his prior affiliate in 2017 while also ranking in the top 100 athletes in Virginia for males 40 to 44 years old.
Ralph’s passion at CrossFit COTU is the athletes in his CrossFit community. He believes it is what makes CrossFit different than any other form of exercise. When he isn’t in the box coaching or working out, Ralph is a consultant for a local Compliance and Regulatory firm, Oyster Consulting, LLC.
